About the Business
Micropress began its humble life in 1974, in a small shop building in the Halesworth Thoroughfare. From which Mike Cross, MD of Micropress also operated an estate agency business. It was a partnership run by four local men; Raymond Rose, Raymond Cook, George Bidnall and Mike Cross. Three of them came from a practical print background, whereas Mike brought the entrepreneurial business sense to the set up. Some of the early publications Micropress produced included Bowling Times and What's on in East Anglia. Micropress also produced one of the first free newspapers outside of London and was one of the biggest independent newspaper typesetters in the country, setting over 400 pages a week. None of the partners took a salary for the first three months, however Micropress was always in profit.
